Seven keen walkers left Kirkintilloch to walk the 7 mile circular route from Mauldsie bridge up clarty brae opposite the Poppinjay Hotel heading towards Netherburn Road and then onto the old railway line after descending steps and crossing over Dalserf burn. THe railway line was like a skating rink completely frozen over in large areas. Soon with great care we reached the Manse Brae passing an old hamlet, which was once a primary school and now converted into beautiful private houses. Soon we were back into the countryside paths and crossing Dalserf burn again on the opposite side, then it was uphill to emerge into Auldton Farm. (This brought back memories as my uncle farmed here for many a year). Once again great care had to be taken as the farm road was a sheet of ice. Onto Millburn Road for 400m then arriving at Chuckie Brae where we descended onto the main Lanark road turning left to the Garrion bridges and up the hill to Law where we cut into the Clyde walkway returning to the start. It was a great walk with beautiful views. Very slippy underfoot.
Verdict Keen walkers to match the keen frost.
Thanks to everyone who braved the underfoot conditions.
