Strathkelvin Ramblers 25th Anniversary Walk.
On a fresh, frosty morning 36 hardy souls braved the cold to re create the first ever walk led by the late Betty Gorman. Today this was led by Ann Martin. WE had the pleasure of having Bedtty's daughter and friend join us. We left Lenzie train station and headed over Lenzie Moss and through Boghead Woods and onto Christine's Way, in the direction of Kirkintilloch. At the end of the Loaning we crossed over to Woodhead Park where we had our morning tea break
A lovely stop with proper facilities for those who wished to take advantage of the new leisure centre.
Onwards along the old railway track to Lenzie via the new paths around the old Woodilee Hospital grounds. Then onto the old railway line again this time in the direction of Moodiesburn, but soon we crossed the busy new Initiative road and in through the seven sisters path which runs parallel with the main railway line. Shortly we were on Garngaber Avenue and eventually arrived at the Lenzie Public Halls where we met a large number of other walkers from our club. We were treated to a lovely buffet lunch courtesy of our own club and served by Table 13 (Caterers).
Many thanks to Ann Martin again for all her work. Leading the walk and also organising the buffet lunch liaising with the caterers.
